Return of the Central London Chess Congress AKA Imperial

Good evening,

While it is unfortunate that we are no longer able to have a congress in April of each year (at least for now), due to renovations elsewhere meaning the Union building is required for exams, we are pleased that the November edition of the Central London Chess Congress is back in a couple of weeks! Come join one of London’s most popular chess events, playing next to the Royal Albert Hall.

This event will be on the 1st floor in Activity Spaces 1 & 2 at Imperial College Union (the main building on the Beit Quadrangle, accessible via Prince Consort Road - SW7 2BB). We look forward to seeing you there!

A few notes about the congress for you to be aware of, please:

• As per our other events in the Union building, due to council restrictions No U18’s are allowed at this event. Unfortunately this is beyond our control and we legally cannot make exceptions. To attend in any capacity (including spectating) you must be 18yo or older on 07/Nov/2025. There cannot be any exceptions to this rule, which is set in place by the council.

• We are accepting entries online, which are payable at time of entry. We are limited to approx. 90 players. If we are oversubscribed, the first 90 paid entries will be given priority, after which there will be a waiting list.

• The cost of entry is £50 (staying the same for quite a few years now, we might have to raise it at some point but have resisted for this year!) with a £15 surcharge if your ECF membership level is not Gold or above. Your entry will be treated as invalid if you have failed to check and your membership does not qualify, so please check this before you complete the entry form. Thank you!
