There are six sections based on English Chess Federation Rapidplay grades; click on the links to see the crosstables of the most recent events for an idea of the strength of player you'll be facing!
  • Open to All (the strongest section)
  • Under 170 Major
  • Under 145 Minor
  • Under 120 Amateur
  • Under 105 Improvers
  • Under 80 My First Tournament
All ages and abilities take part. If this is your first ever tournament then you should probably play in the My First Tournament Under 80. If you have ever had a grade ECF 80 or over please play in the Amateur or above.

TOP FIVE SECTIONS are also rated by FIDE in their rapidplay list, and you have to be a member of the ECF (SILVER LEVEL or above) to take part. Ring 01424 775222 to join or join online
There are six rounds (five in the MFT) and all players (usually 100-160 participants) play in all rounds. It is not a knock-out.

If you turn up before 11.30am you can still enter, and claim a half point bye for the game you missed. There are refreshments all day.
