I wanted to let you know about the opportunity to play a new Standard tournament, FIDE and ECF rated, on this very “weekend”, Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of May. I have noticed more of these unusual events taking place (no doubt because of the cost of venues over traditional weekends). [As I write we are doing a 4 round congress over a Tuesday and Wednesday in a pub in Muswell Hill, and it’s going to be something you see more often.] The event will take place near Nine Elms underground station in Wandsworth at Lansdowne Green Community Centre, 283-291 Wandsworth Rd, London SW8 2ND. It has three categories, Open, Under 1900 and Under 1600, with a generous prize fund. There will be 5 rounds with time format of 60 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move 1. You can get a full FIDE rating in one tournament! Schedule - Friday: Round 1 at 15.30 - Round 2 at 19.00.
